I was just thinking about a telethon? I know every year they have telethons to raise money for muscular destrophy, cerebral palsy, Aids. Why not have a telethon for Dental crisis? Just a thought.

I just typed in Ideas for television in google search. It came up with tvwritersvault.com, I wrote to them about the idea of a make over to help put smiles back on. I also commented on blog maverick about ideas for television. Maybe some of ya'll can do the same and get a show going, right here from aidpage.

To hear how lives have been changed and have beome unshackled! Pacific Garden Mission feeds the homeless and gives them shelter. For the month of July 2008, 526 patients have been treated in the free Medical/Dental Clinic. 51,700 items of clothes distributed. 561 people sleeping overnight. 79,3000 plates of food served. This Mission needs to set up worldwide! They are doing the work of the Lord!

Thanks for your reply.  Seems everything you said I should say to my son, I actually did.  I know people have to deal with death in their own ways and everyone is different.  I've been by his side thru all the past death and even though there was nothing I could do - I always let him know I was there when he needed to talk, or cry or whatever.  And your right about the way his friends died - only one was from cancer which he watched for 3 years  his friend slowly pass away. 

I care probably to much for my son.  He wants to sell his car in order to pay to get my teeth fixed.  He's got a beautiful car and I'm sure it would pay for my mouth.  Thats when I started looking over the internet to see if their was anyone out there that could help me with my dental problems before he sells what he loves so much.   Am I sounding nuts?

Well im rambling on but thanks for all the help and understanding you throw my way.  I do leave my life in Gods hands and believe praying is about all I've got left .  He's always pretty good about getting me thru the worst times.  But I know he cant do it all himself so I have to make any effort n work with him.  This is what I'm doing - Finally

Hi there,  You don't sound dumb at all, I think are thinker, I like that in someone. I only mentioned that about reality shows online, is because I use the net for almost everything. directory, phone book whatever.

 Losing a grandparent, is really hard, with me when my grandma died, it was one of the hardest things I ever went through.     When some one dies, we start thinking about everyone we have been close to that has died, its hard.    We almost relive their loss all over again.. If he has lost friends at his young age, I would guess, it could be from car wrecks, over doses, and maybe even suicides. I  have no idea, this just what  seems to be taking a lot of young peoples lives these days..  grief is not something we can pretend isn't happening, in  fact that is probably one of the worst things we can do,  you know he will  bounce back and forth with denial, with thoughts such as these-  ( this can't be true, I don't believe it) to anger, to depression)  I think if he is having  any of those feelings about his grandpa or friends, that is the most normal , and natural way of getting thru it..  No , you can't take the pain from his heart,  and as much as you want to ,  he really has to feel that pain,  to move on.    That goes along with  the healing process,  but you can listen, when he's  feeling sad , or mad at the world, himself,  or even God.  Let him be where he is , with his emotions right now.  as long as he isn't feeling self-destructive..  any other feeling ar ok right now..   It really is the best thing for him to talk about the ones,  he has lost in what ever way helps him the most.   he needs to vent.   He may or  may not want a shoulder to cry on,  I  wouldn't push it,  just let him  know  your shoulder is available anytime nite or day.... I would just say I'm  here son,  if you feel like talking about grandpa, or your friends I'm here, and I know your hurting really bad right now,  and as your mom I wish I could make it all go away,  but I cant,  but  the pain will lessen with time, even though it doesn't feel that way now.  Just tell him u love him,  and that as  his mom, you would like to help him thru this time, and not to  hesitate to come ,  and talk when he needs to.  Mainly, just let him feel , and  be where ever  he is right now...  Some kids think its bad to be angry with someone when they die, its ok.  or  theyfeel guilty, and he may even wish it  had been him that died,  instead of his friends,  thats normal,  and that's when as a mother, it best not to say,  you shouldn't feel that way, or think that.. chances are he is feeling that for the moment. and that will pass.  I think you love your son very much,  I could since it in your writing. The only way for his head to clear,  is talking, other wise holding all of  those various and mixed thoughts in his head,   will make him start to feel like hes losing it..

I don't know if that helped it all,  and I know saying with time it will be better sounds very cliquish, but time is the only thing that heals,  the worse thing he could do his hold his pain in and isolate...  My prayers are with you and your son... and  by the  way theGod  I  believe in, knows we get mad at Him,  especially  when we lose someone close  to us,  He can can handle it. He loves us. 

I pray your day will get better and your  for your sons heart to heal quickly... If he ever wants to write in here  and talk to me, sometimes its easier talking to a stranger about stuff.   He is welcome to do that...

The main problem with one of these realities shows is that most of us wouldnt go and try out for them due to our teeth.  I'd be to embarressed.  Of course if its like some of the shows where your family calls in and surprises the person with a new mouth make over - well that might just work.  It really would be worth a try.

Maybe Oprah or ALL the talk show host could do a show on mouth makeovers and pay for the whole cost of it.  Theres so many ways the rich can help but people tell me that they didnt get rich by just giving money away.  We actually need a chariety that gives just for dental.  Thanks for your comments - makes my mind start thinking .

I agree with you that this is a great site.  I do think alot but my problem is putting the ball into action.  This sounds dumb, I know, but I didnt even think to look up reality shows on the internet.  Guess I probably could find one.  I'm gonna try that when I get a chance later today.  My son is going thru a terrible time today from the loss of his grandfather and its making him think of all the friends he's lost over the past few years.  He's only 27 and has lost to many others his friends all in bad ways.

I hope everyone will pray for him to be able to help him get thru this time of sorrow. A mother can only do so much and I feel its never enough because I cant take the pain from his heart nor clear his head.

I love your idea, your a thinker, and that motivates all of us.  I love the idea Put a smile on your face and make the world a better place,  for a reality show.   The only thing with some of them is they seem to pick and choose, Ive watched biggest loser a few  times and  seems like ,  see they are what the world would call attractive people with a extreme weight problem, and with out weight would be stunning.. what about the people that need to lose weight but they arent going to look like they stepped out of a glamorus magazine, even with the weight loss,  it was something my husband pointed out about the show.. food for thought.  But I still  think its a great title,  for something, as far as getting help, for dental problems. You never know unless you try, maybe you could suggest it,  like  go online to one of the above mentioned websites  of reality shows.  and tell them your idea, You can only get a yes or no, but you will never get a yes to a question not asked......    Thanks so much for your comments to me.. you put a smile on face, as do so many on here when I'm having not so good day.  helping people works for me every time.. I believe that Churches everywhere should have a dental and health program and food program. So many Churches today are drawing in outrages money, the bible says to feed and clothe the hungry and naked. I think helping people with their teeth is part of clothing them so they won't be naked? Don't you? There is no reason why churches worldwide can not have these types of programs. If Pacific garden Missions can do it, I don't see why the other churches and missions can't come together and help and show love one to another. I know alot of people pay their 10% and offerings to different churches and organizations. We need to have a worldwide centers where people can send there offerings to help people with dental and food and clothing.

Maybe if we can get in touch with the T.V Shows that host Deal or no Deal, or Biggest Loser. I know alot of the shows are starting to have real people in real life situations, instead of actors. The communities and people everywhere like these shows because they can identify with them. I know Deal or no deal is setting up games shows all over the place, so if we could get them to start a show and maybe use some of the Aidpage participants it would be awesome!

Thats a great idea and if I knew how to get ahold of someone in show business I sure would suggest that idea.  Its true though, there are so many of us that need help and are good people and there just isnt anyone out there to help us.  Its funny cause the rich people give donations to organisations that they dont even know there given to just to get a tax break.  Id love for there to be a program giving to those who have teeth or mouth problems that cant afford to pay for the help they need for one reason or another. Maybe we should try to organize a charity for that purpose alone.  Any ideas?

They have a show now where they go out and help build houses for people.

They have a T.V. show where they help obese people(Biggest loser)

They have all these game shows like Deal or no Deal.

Why can't they have a show where they go out on the road and help people with their smile?

They use to have the Swan show on T.V.

Maybe it's time for a T.V. Show that helps people put their smile back on!

Im humling asking, and pleading with Dentist, Oral Surgeons, Oral specialist.  

This country is or very shortly will be in crisis whre the lives of people are at.  WHY..... most of  arent the rich and famos.    We are average, sometimes below average type incomes.  You were drs before you recieved your other titles....  wasn't there an  oath you gentlmen and ladies took  the Hippicratic- that what is kind looks that  these days....Im far from a cold person, so please do not take me that way.  I'm just tired and frustated, at living  in a nation where the insurace companys,  seem to run alot of what you dentists , and oral surgeons, seem to operate your offices today.   God only kwows what all fields this touchs.  Im staying  on this one for now.   There are thousands and Im probly underestimating, of people that requiere your services, and are getting turned away,  depending on their needs, and of course the ALMIGHTY DOLLOR ,   what happened to really caring about your chosen profession?

Certainly there has be some of you, well I know there is  1  of  you, I won't give  any   name  but he did take time to post on the site.

We all weren't born with a silver spoon in our mouth,, might of cause dental probems later anyway... want to keep it  somewhat  lite..I will give my own example, abreviated at best I can,  you are welcome to go to my profile you will  see me  talking about my    problem,     My case would be this,  I m 57,   I have 2 daughteres and 6 grand childred.   Not that old really, I could or cound not have some healthy, fuctional time left, or not.

Yet,   unfortunatly, I am disabled for over 20 years now, and so being in Ca.  I have medi-cal tthat has limited coverage for dental.  They are helpful to a point.. I also have  medicare, but for the most I dont' think they deal with this, now you oral surgens would know the answer does medicare cover the surgery part of needing oral surgeon work..  in my case..   I have had 2 sets of dentures in7 years,  the firsrt set I was never able to wear the bottoms at all, and then shortly there after I started haveing trouble with the top dentures,  the Dr  had quit taking medical before I was really done, hindsite....   Well during this perios of 7 years   of my teeth. or I should my top denturess  being in and of my mouth starting with a few times a day till now, with 2nd set of dentures same problem bottoms don't stay, and tops havent gotten where they are out way more in..  Some of you may be thinking how sad,  we hate hearing things like that.  walk   in     my shoes or should  I   say   a    day     taking teeth in and out contiuously. THIS  IS NOT COSMETIC SURGERY, I REPEAT THIS IS NOT COSMETIC SURGERY, and more of us   are just   want to  have  life again,   we were   born with teeth for a reason ,  having teeth that work shoud never be opitonal.  you start digesting your food in your mouth but you know that.  I will try to shorten this and   more     later, and you can always read about my dental travesty   on   my profile.  and posts..       So fast forward,   I have whats called Barreats esphagas   which Im sure you what this precancer of esphagas.   I all so have a ulcer histor, including my esphagas.  Well when cant wear dentures  and   their    our out 90 % of time you swallow a great deal of saliva  that equals acid, which is a enemy to my digestive track   like giveing some sugar who has diabietes.

fast forward  this  year I fially saved a little money to go to a non medi-cal dentist,   thought it was 't dentures fault, lo and behold,   it  was       THAT I HAD SOME TYPE OF RIDGE OR BUMP THEY HAD A NAME I DONT REMEMBER,ALL I KNOW IS THIS IS THE MAJOR REASON i HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO WEAR MY TOP DENTURES THEREFOR NO BOTTOMS.       you can imagine, going from being excited about now maybe I can figure some way to pay for real or good dentures.. he was repuable and gracious,  but no less the reality was not very hope for me.   secondly I have strong gag reflex right wear the bck of top dentures the pallet part mormally sits.  add that to my child size mouth... he said couldnt' do anything for the top  but maybe he could put some type implant in bottom, I was litally crying,  Mr friend was there and composd she said certainly there are people worse then her out there, he of course, and he said to see a speclialis of some type a oral sometjhing who deals with mouth issues and dentures.. 

He conultion also cost me more,  any way said  about the same thing more a little detailed, fine man...  Said there was hope, that yes I would need a specail denture, one without the pallet part, and that would require, 4 implants, I was tearing up again, and he contined to say that then the bottom would need 2,  he thru all of this and said the cost would be around 9.000.  He could of said million at point.. see at first I was excited, ane when he came the amout Im thinkin we have one credit for that amount,  and the are little almost paid off.   then the bomb came,  He said my costs is not the major cost that would be the oral surgeon, he does the posts for implants a whopping 2,400 or 2,600  for each one may have money but i can couunt,, his cost would be app 14,000 now I was officall GIVING UP AND WISH SOME ONE WOULD JUST ME OUT OF MY MISERY,   BUT I CONTINUED TO LISTEN . 

IM skipping the rest if you wish to know more you can look at my profile.... and posts on this,   I AM NOT ALONE IN THIS  there on this site on lots and lots and lots of people going simular things. Im tired of feeing sick and nausesous on a continuing bais is and at time vomit because of it, because of the acid and the bacteria that I pick from contanting in and out with teeth with mouth guard so I don't chew down and a blister with.. I wont keep repeating  what is already in profile and earlier posts.

We have one dentist  who   risked            maybe he didnt have give his name neverless he still came on here and basically said the insurance companys kind own the dentist and probably I would imagi ne       the oral surgens...

I WOULD BE MORE THEN WILLING TO BE A ADVOCOTAE THAT WOULD  SPEAK AT ANY FUCTIONS WHERE THERES A GROUP OF YOU.   I CAN DO IT WITH OR WITH OUT TEETH, OF COUSE IF IT WAS WITH TEETH THERE WOULD BE NO LUNCH SPEAKING WOULD TAKE CARE OF  THAT,DENTURES WOULD BE OUT.. THATS OK..    AGAIN NOT  ABOUT COSMETIC SURGERY THAT IS LUCRIOUS....I HAVE PICTURES IN HERE WITH OUT MY TEETH AND YOU KNOW IM ALSO CUTE, IF MY SMILE WAS NOT COVERING HOW SICK TO MY STOMACH I FEEL IVE GOTTEN REAL GOOD AT SMILING AND HIDING HOW SICK I AM.... YOU DECIDE..
